Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education

Graduates, upon completion of all requirements, are recommended for certification to teach in grades four through eight within the State of Georgia. Our degree program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and certified by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC).

Program Features

We expect our students to become proficient in the use of technology in the classroom, and technology is woven into every education course. In addition, The Technology Center for teacher educators offers a variety of technologies available for classroom infusion.

A high percentage of our graduates pass the Certification Test on their first attempt, which is due in part to the personalized attention they receive because of our low student-to-faculty ratio, and is also due in part to the field experiences students acquire that are integrated throughout the program of study.

An active Student Georgia Association of Educators (SGAE) and a Collegiate Middle Level Association chapter offer excellent opportunities for involvement in a professional education organization.

Course of Study

The education and content courses we offer prepare our candidates to be effective teachers in today's diverse classrooms. The curriculum includes core curriculum requirements and professional courses including a 15-week teaching experience.
