Advisement & Registration

Fall 2015 advisement/registration
The advisement period for fall 2015 semester will continue through August 17, 2015.  Registration times are different for every student.  After March 13th, check your registration time by signing into Port, click on the registration tab/registration tools and then you will see "Registration Status".  This will show when you can register.  If you are planning to graduate at the end of fall, please let me know during your advisement appointment so that we can fill out your graduation paperwork.

Located in suite 109 of Solms Hall, the Office of Liberal Studies provides academic advisement in two degree programs: Associate of Arts (AA) and Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS). A coordinator, Mrs. Peggy Clifton, and one student assistant staff the office.

The primary mission of the faculty and staff in the Office of Liberal Studies is to help you design and implement an individualized plan of study that not only meets all degree requirements but also helps you to satisfy your educational and professional goals.

Advisement sessions can be scheduled in the evening during conventional weekday hours. To schedule an appointment, please call Peggy Clifton at 912.344.2613, or send an e-mail to Peggy.Clifton@armstrong.edu.  If you are an AA or a BLS student enrolled at the Liberty Center, you may schedule appointments in Hinesville by calling 912.877.1906.

What kinds of information do advisors provide?

The first responsibility of Liberal Studies advisors is to help you decide whether or not an AA or a BLS degree accords with the goals you have set for yourself. We will encourage you to become familiar with the various programs available at Armstrong. If you are uncertain about your choice of major, we'll direct you to resources that will help you explore your options. Advisors also provide information on all matters related to completion of an AA or a BLS degree.

How do I schedule an appointment with an advisor?

To schedule an advisement session, call 912.344.2613 or stop by the office in Solms Hall 109. Although most meetings are scheduled between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, we can make arrangements to meet later in the evening. To make sure that we're available to give you the attention you need, we ask that you schedule an appointment at least a day or two ahead of time. If you are an AA or a BLS student enrolled at the Liberty Center, you may schedule an appointment in Hinesville by calling 912-877-1906.

Will I be notified before advance registration?

Yes, if you're enrolled in the AA or BLS degree program. In the fall and spring semesters before the start of advance advisement/registration, you'll receive an email inviting you to set up an appointment.  Please check that your correct current email address is on file.  You will be able to sign up through google calendar for available appointments.

Can I be advised on registration day?

Yes, by visiting the office on registration day. We meet with students on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Can I be advised via e-mail?

In certain circumstances, yes, particularly if you live at a great distance from the campus. Address your message to Peggy.Clifton@armstrong.edu. However, if you are a first time visitor to Liberal Studies, you should always schedule an appointment to meet with an advisor in person.

How do I change my major to AA or BLS?
