Master of Arts History

Savannah and the Georgia Lowcountry offer an ideal setting for graduate study in history. Internationally famous for the beauty of its parks, squares, and architecture, Savannah and its environs are full of opportunities for research in social, political, religious, military, agricultural, industrial, and maritime history. With the nation’s largest National Historic Landmark District, as well as acclaimed museums, archives, and research centers, Savannah is also a living laboratory awaiting those interested in history.


Armstrong offers several options for the study of History at the graduate level:  Master of Arts in History with a concentration in Public History, American History, or World History, and a Graduate Certificate in Public History.

Career Opportunities 

Graduate study in History prepares students for careers in museums, archives, education, non-profit organizations, government, or business. Several alumni have gone on to doctoral study.
