Background

As of July 1, 2011, more than 500 college campuses across the country have enacted 100% smoke-free or tobacco-free policies, with the trend steadily increasing for the past few years.  During the summer of 2011, the Armstrong Faculty Senate charged a small workgroup to explore the possibility of revising Armstrong’s tobacco policy to strengthen tobacco control on the local campus.  The Armstrong Tobacco Control Task Force (TCTF) convened for the first time in August, 2011, with support from the Student Government Association, Staff Advisory Council, and Armstrong administration.   Membership included representation from students, faculty, staff, and local community partners (roster included at end of report).
