Why We Give

Cathy Hill

“Armstrong has shown an ability to organize its resources and respond effectively to challenges that confront our country as well as our region. Contributions, large and small, will help ensure that scholarships are provided to worthy students and that the university has the resources needed to meet the workforce of today and tomorrow.”

– Cathy Hill, Vice President - Coastal Region, Georgia Power

John Duttenhaver

“Armstrong is important to Savannah and this region. It offers a first rate education to all its students and is one of the only universities in the Southeast to graduate high demand health professional specialists such as radiation therapists and cardiovascular interventional technologists. This is why I support Armstrong with my time and contributions.”

John Duttenhaver, MD, Radiation Oncologist, Anderson Cancer Institute

Donna Brooks

“I have given to Armstrong’s faculty/staff campaign for a number of years; however, I began giving more generously to the university upon the retirement of Mr. Alfred Owens, Armstrong’s first director of Minority Affairs, in an effort to endow a scholarship in his name. Since its endowment I have been contributing to a fund to endow a scholarship for students in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I see my giving to Armstrong as a means to “pay back” the financial aid and scholarship money that enabled me to pursue my academic studies from undergraduate to doctoral, virtually debt-free; it’s my thank you.”

Donna Brooks, Assistant Dean, College of Health Profession

Elwin Tilson

“I give for two reasons. The first is that I believe we all need to give something back to others and this was a way to impact the education of students. The second reason I give is the funds are used to help students and programs that have the most need and, therefore, have the most impact.”

Elwin Tilson, Department Head, Radiological Sciences
