Maintenance Schedule for Enterprise Level Applications
(Armstrong Systems, Armstrong eClassroom, Banner/SHIP, Collaborate, iTunes U, Port, and Turnitin)
Systems are unavailable during Nightly Back up
- SHIP - 12 - 1:30 am and 3 - 3:30 am
- Port of Armstrong - 3 to 3:30 am
- Scheduled System Maintenance occur on Sunday's 6 am to 2 pm and Wednesday's 10 pm to 12 am. During this time frame a service may be interrupted.

Port of Armstrong upgrade - In order to support changes being made by Google, IT Services will be upgrading Port (port.armstrong.edu) to proactively avoid unexpected service interruptions with Google.
Impact to users during service interruption:
- Port of Armstrong will be unavailable
- Student Gmail will only be available through mobile devices. Mobile device setup instructions are available, here
- D2L will remain available
The D2L Banner Integration is now working in our production environment. Beginning Summer 2015, students will no longer have to wait 1 to 2 business days before having access to online course content. Official changes of enrollment in courses must be completed in Banner/SHIP. IT Services, USG, D2L, and Ellucian have partnered together to reduce the time it takes for Armstrong students to gain access to courses within the Armstrong eClassroom.
Faculty members now have access to Summer and Fall 2015 courses in Armstrong eClassroom if they are listed as the instructor in Banner/SHIP. Students that are currently enrolled through Banner/SHIP will be added to the D2L classlist but will not have access until the first day of the semester. Faculty may now begin preparing for the future semesters and copying content to the new course areas.
- Courses that are crosslisted in Banner are not automatically crosslisted in Armstrong eClassroom, but if you would like to have them combined please complete this form. Courses MUST be crosslisted before placing any content into the course area.
- Users can filter by Semester in the My Courses widget.
- Semester information will no longer display in the course title in the top right hand corner.
IT Services decommissioned Novell campus resources yesterday in efforts to bring us closer to Single Sign-on. This action was expected to be seamless to campus; however there have been a few users who experienced Port login issues. User should be aware that they must use their Active Directory credentials (Port ID) to access campus services and resources.
If you are experiencing issues resetting your password or accessing Armstrong resources, please visit the password-reset link located on the Port.armstrong.edu login page. The Password Reset feature will sync your passwords for Port, Gmail, WiFi, Library resources and campus computer resources.
Armstrong guests now have the ability to create a temporary Wi-Fi guest account to use when visiting our campus. The self-service guest account will expire after 12 hours. Guests are able to request for new credentials at any time if they are lost or about to expire.
Users must either provide a cell phone number and the associated carrier or provide a name, e-mail address, and company name to receive Armstrong Guest Wi-Fi Account credentials. Please view the Wi-Fi Self Service Instructions for additional set up assistance.
Armstrong guests needing guest Wi-Fi credentials for an extended period of time should make the request through the Helpdesk at least two business days prior to when needed. The name of an Armstrong sponsor and a usage description for the account will be required.
D2L Banner Integration coming soon. IT Services, USG, D2L, and Ellucian have been working together to reduce the time it takes for Armstrong students to gain access to courses in Armstrong eClassroom. Over the next month we will be preparing for D2L Banner Integration in our production environments for the Summer 2015 and Fall 2015 classes.
On March 23rd, faculty will have access to Summer and Fall 2015 courses in Armstrong eClassroom using the Integration process. Faculty must be assigned as the course instructor in Banner to have access to the course within Armstrong eClassroom to begin development of the course content.
Students that are enrolled in courses in Banner at that time will also be enrolled in the courses. Students will not have access to the courses until the beginning of the semester even though they show up in the class list. Students will gain access to courses based on the start dates listed in Banner.
- Summer - Session 10 & 11 – June 8, 2015
- Summer - Session 12 – July 6, 2015
- Fall – Session 1 & 2 – August 17, 2015
- Fall – Session 3 – October 12, 2015
As students are registered in courses through the Banner system, they will be enrolled in the courses in Armstrong eClassroom within minutes. Beginning Summer 2015, students will no longer need to wait 1 to 2 business days before having access to the courses throughout the drop add period. Official changes of enrollment in courses must be completed in the Banner system prior to it reflecting in Armstrong eClassroom.
Courses that are cross listed in Banner will also be cross listed in D2L. Any special requests should be submitted through the following online forms:

Banner and SHIP Maintenance - 1/31/2015, at 11:59 pm through 2/01/2015 at 6:00 pm Banner, SHIP and Port Apps Reports will be unavailable during the maintenance period. Port of Armstrong, email, Armstrong eClassroom and iTunes U will be available however grades, class schedule, etc will not be available.
