Carolina Prats-Millan Named ITA National Women’s Tennis “Player To Watch”

(May 14, 2014) — Armstrong Atlantic State University sophomore Carolina Prats-Millan was named the ITA Division II Women's Tennis National "Player To Watch," announced by the organization on Tuesday at the annual awards banquet.

Prats-Millan is currently ranked No. 28 in singles, compiling an impressive 22-1 dual matches singles record and a 30-2 overall record for the second-ranked Pirates. She enters the NCAA Round of 16 having won 18 consecutive singles matches, all in straight sets, while giving up just three games in a set once during that streak. She earned second-team All-Peach Belt Conference singles and doubles honors this season, teaming with Clara Perez to sport a 24-1 dual match doubles record.

She is the fifth different Armstrong player to earn the national award, joining Luisa Cowper (2004), Dziyana Nazaruk (2005), Iuliia Sherrod (2006) and Alida Muller-Wehlau (2010). Prats-Millan qualified for the award by being named the ITA's Southeast Region "Player To Watch."

Prats-Millan and the Pirates open up action at the 2014 NCAA Division II National Championships by taking on Wayne State (Mich.) at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Sanlando Park.
