Graduate Application Tips and Reminders
Submitting your graduate application for your chosen career path can be stressful! Here are a few tips and reminders that will help you with the application process:
Deadlines: Do NOT wait until the deadline to submit or postmark your application.
If you wait until the very last minute to apply, you are leaving yourself no room for error. Also, different degree programs have different application deadlines. Be sure to check on your program deadline here: http://www.armstrong.edu/Admissions/graduate2/admissions_deadlines. Also, check with the individual programs to ensure that you have the correct deadline.
Send in your application before sending in supporting documents.
It is better to apply (send in your application for admission) PRIOR to sending in supporting documentation, such as transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc. An admission file and student identification number is not generated for you until your application is received and processed. If your supporting documents arrive prior to your application for admission, a holding file is created for you. However, if you have submitted your application, then supporting documents can be processed right away and added directly to your file.
Give us time to process your paperwork.
Please be patient! Our normal working time is between 7 and 10 business days, once it has been received. During peak processing times (right before and after posted deadlines), our incoming mail greatly increases, which slows down our processing time. You can always Check your Status online here: https://calicojack.armstrong.edu/PROD/ywskadst.GetIden .This site is case sensitive, so be sure to capitalize your first and last name and to spell it exactly as it is listed on the application you submitted. Do not use your nickname. Before you call or e-mail us to see if your documentation is received, please check this website. Also, remember to give us time to process your documentation. Business days do not include holidays or weekends.
Send your application/supporting documents through a mail tracking service.
If you want to ensure absolute delivery of your documents, then send it through a tracking service, the Post Office, Federal Express, UPS, etc. Request a signature and delivery date. All Armstrong mail is sorted through a central mail room PRIOR to being distributed out to the individual offices.
List your current name and all former names.
Make sure that you list your current name and ALL previous names on your application, and if handwriting your application, please ensure that your handwriting is legible. If you do not spell or list all of your current/former names , then any supporting documentation you send in with a different name, may not match your file. For example, previous name is Mary Johnson, but your new name is Maria Smith. Also, please ensure that all of your letters of recommendation, list the name on your application. We cannot match up a recommendation letter for Mary, to an application for Mary Smith.
We are unable to accept faxed documentation.
We do not accept faxed transcripts or faxed score (GRE/MAT/GMAT/TOEFL/IELTS) reports. These are not considered to be official and will NOT satisfy the requirement for admission.
We do accept electronic transcripts.
However, these must be sent directly from the college. Also, please know that in almost every instance, these transcripts are “captured” by our SPAM filters. Therefore, if we are not aware that you or your college/university are attempting to send electronic transcripts, we will not check through our SPAM filters.
Thank you for checking your status online and for being patient as we work through hundreds of documents ensuring that each and every admission file is processed as quickly as possible.
